Westport Custom Cabinets Warranty
Westport Custom Cabinets warrants to the original purchaser, for
residential applications, to be free from defects in material and
workmanship under normal household use for a period of five years from
date of purchase and one year on the finish. This warranty is not
transferable from the original purchaser, or on cabinetry moved from the
original site of installation. This warranty does not apply to
commercial applications. Cabinetry purchased for commercial
applications will have a one-year warranty. This warranty is expressly
limited to repair or replacement of the defective product at our option,
at no charge to the consumer. Slight variations or fluctuations in
color and grain are not considered defects by the cabinet manufacturing
industry. Wood and finish characteristics in the Non-Warranty Addendums
are a part of this warranty agreement. Since these exclusions are
specific to your wood and finish selections, please review addendum
details. This limited warranty does not extend to defects caused by
improper handling, storage, installation, assembly or disassembly,
intentional damage, product modifications, or to products installed in
homes which do not maintain year round environment controls or stored or
installed in a self-contained environment with a constant humidity
level range of 45% to 60%. To make a claim under this limited warranty,
the consumer must contact Westport Custom Cabinets after the discovery
of the defect. Westport Custom Cabinets will not pay any expense
incurred by the consumer in removing, transporting, or reinstalling the
product. All express warranties and any implied warranty of
merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose shall terminate upon
the expiration of this limited warranty. Westport Custom Cabinets
assumes no liability for incidental or consequential damages. You may
request additional copies of this warranty. Westport Custom Cabinets
reserves the right to change design, specifications, materials and price
as conditions require and improvements are developed, although Westport
Custom Cabinets has no obligation to incorporate such changes into
products previously manufactured.
WARRANTY ADDENDUM
Open Joints
Seasonable changes in temperature and humidity naturally cause wood to
expand and contract. This could cause joint separation. Westport
Custom Cabinets warrants against excessive joint separation after the
cabinetry has been stored or installed for one year allowing for a
seasonal temperature and humidity cycle. The cabinetry must be stored
or installed in a climate-controlled environment with a constant
humidity level of 45% to 60%. Frame joints and door joints of 1/32 or
less are not considered as excessive joint separation, but normal
expansion and contraction to seasonal changes. This is most noticeable
on cabinetry finished in a ‘painted’ color.
Doors and Panels
All doors and drawer fronts made by Westport Custom Cabinets are made
with solid wood, unless ordered otherwise. These doors typically
perform well in a variety of conditions if properly stored, handled, and
installed. All wood products are designed and intended for controlled
interior applications only. Any solid wood product will respond
adversely to extreme conditions–especially extremely low or high
humidity conditions. Gaps that may develop in door joints due to these
conditions are not subject to replacement under this warranty.
Single panel doors less than 48” in height and 24” in width carry a
guarantee against warpage of no more than ¼”. Single panel doors warped
more than ¼”. Multi-panel doors less than 64” in height and 24” in
width carry a guarantee against warp age of no more than ¼”.
Multi-panel doors warped more than ¼” will be replaced at no charge
(material only). This information applies to all door styles, bar backs
or appliance panels. One annual cycle must be allowed before warranty
replacement is to be considered. In most situations the door will
return to its normal flat position after going through a complete
heating cycle. In a panelized door the panel and the frame or styles
and rails of the door are separate pieces to allow for movement in the
wood. It is normal and more noticeable in white painted doors to have a
visible line or ‘black cracks/lines’ where the panel goes into the slot
of the styles and rails. Our doors are handmade and hand sprayed and
may have areas where the finish bridges this gap and areas where it does
not-this is normal. Westport Custom Cabinets is not responsible for
filling this void as it will inhibit proper movement of the panel. As
the panel goes through its first season in your home it is normal to
experience some shrinkage which Westport Custom Cabinets will touch up,
free of charge, after the panels are allowed to shrink to their fullest
extent for the season.
Unfinished Cabinetry
No guarantee is included on Westport Custom Cabinets that are
manufactured unfinished, either on the doors against warpage or the
finish applied by others. Westport Custom Cabinets will cover problems
in unfinished cabinetry at our discretion.
Color Match – Wood and Finish Characteristics
Natural woods may vary in texture, color, wood grain, and exhibit subtle
changes as they age. For example, wood joints may eventually have
visible cracking around the joint area and the cabinet colors may darken
or lighten over time. Exposure to sunlight, smoke, moisture, household
cleaners and other environmental conditions may cause materials to vary
from their original color and/or to warp, split or crack. These
variations are the nature of the material in relation to its
environmental exposure. This also makes it very difficult to match the
original color. All efforts will be made for a reasonable color match,
but an exact match is neither implied nor guaranteed. Before selecting
any finish, always view a solid wood sample with finish applied to see
the variations of color due to woods natural variations in color.
Hardware
Westport Custom Cabinets will replace defective hardware with the
original style if it is available. If it is not, Westport Custom
Cabinets will work to match the original style selected as closely as
possible. This will only apply if we, Westport Custom Cabinets were the
provider of the hardware.
Drawer Glides and Hinges
All hinges and drawer glides are covered with a limited lifetime
warranty. If the hinge or drawer glide fails to operate satisfactory
under normal use, they may be returned for a no-charge replacement. This
does not include removal or installation.
Storage of Cabinetry
Westport Custom Cabinets is not a storage facility. All cabinetry is
intended to be delivered within two weeks of assembly or by due date.
If the customer is not ready to accept the cabinetry due to reasons out
of our control, arrangements need to be made by the customer to properly
store the cabinetry in a climate controlled environment. Westport
Custom Cabinets will take no responsibility for completed cabinetry left
at the production facility beyond the two week timeframe or due date.
